Common questions
What does the Privacy Check cover?
Digital Life Check’s Privacy Check asks about three areas: your privacy settings, your accounts and the Wi-Fi you use. That includes whether you have reviewed who can see your social media posts, which apps can use your location, microphone and contacts, whether you close accounts you no longer use, and what you do on public Wi-Fi.
How do I remove my personal information from Google Search?
Google can remove search results that show your phone number, home address, email, ID numbers or bank details. Ask through Google’s removal request form or, where your account has it, the “Results about you” tool. That only hides the result on Google: to get the information taken down, ask the website that publishes it. Digital Life Check has a step-by-step guide to removing personal information from Google.
Does the Privacy Check look at my accounts or devices?
No. Digital Life Check’s Privacy Check is a set of questions about your settings and habits. It does not connect to your social media, email or devices and cannot see what they share, so the result reflects your own answers.
Are my Privacy Check answers sent anywhere?
No. The Privacy Check runs in your browser, and your individual answers are not sent, saved or put in the web address. Digital Life Check records only that a check was started and completed, with the final score and its band.
