Security Check

Check whether your devices and accounts are properly protected.

Question 1 of 110%

Do you use the same password on more than one account?

Common questions

What does the Security Check cover?

Digital Life Check’s Security Check asks about five areas: passwords, two-step verification, your accounts, your devices and software updates. That includes whether you reuse passwords, whether your main email account has two-step verification, whether your phone has a screen lock and how quickly you install updates. It ends with a score out of 100 and a list of what to fix first.

What is two-step verification (2SV)?

Two-step verification, also called 2SV, two-factor authentication or 2FA, is a second step after your password to prove it is really you, usually a code on your phone, a fingerprint or a face scan. A criminal who steals your password still can’t get in. Digital Life Check’s Security Check asks whether it is turned on for your main email account, because that is the account to protect first.

Does the Security Check scan my phone or computer?

No. Digital Life Check’s Security Check is a set of questions about your habits. It does not scan, connect to or install anything on your phone, computer or accounts, so the result reflects your own answers. It is a guide to what to fix first, not a technical audit.

Are my Security Check answers sent anywhere?

No. The Security Check runs in your browser, and your individual answers are not sent, saved or put in the web address. Digital Life Check records only that a check was started and completed, with the final score and its band.
