Answer first

People often reach us because something has just happened. Every guide gives the answer or the urgent steps first, and the background after.

Sources

Guides are researched against primary and official sources — the National Cyber Security Centre, gov.uk, Ofcom, regulators, and the support pages of the companies whose products we describe. Each guide lists its sources at the end. We don’t use invented statistics or unsourced claims.

Dates

Every guide shows a Last checked date: the day its facts were last verified against those sources. An Updated date appears only when an editor has materially changed the guide. We never change a date just to make a page look fresh.

Written by and reviewed by

Each guide says who wrote it. Where a guide has been independently reviewed by a second person with relevant expertise, it names them and the date. Guides that have not yet had that review say so: Not yet independently reviewed.

Commercial independence

Affiliate relationships never decide what we recommend or whether a guide is written. Commercial links are labelled, appear after the reader’s question has been answered, and are never placed in urgent safety guidance ahead of the steps that matter. See the affiliate disclosure.
